With a Life-long background of working in wood, and a fiber artist spouse, I have taken working with wood, wood working and wood turning into the area of well thought out and creative tools for the fiber artist.
Picking up a piece of wood to a wood turner is like a fiber artist holding a skein of yarn or a hand full of unspun fiber. Each piece has its own destination and natural beauty.
I'm a retired Air Force Officer who started out as an aerospace engineer, launching GPS satellites and managing development projects. I eventually moved into prepping future Air Force personnel (AFROTC) and then teaching systems engineering to DoD professionals. After retirement, I settled in Florida with my lovely wife to enjoy the tropical weather and beaches.
I've been knitting and crocheting for over 20 years and always look for new challenges. Other than socks, I rarely knit the same pattern twice! I recently discovered hand-dyeing my own yarn and decided to put my business skills to work for myself. I love the creative and technical processes and sharing the finished product with others. I hope my yarn brings you joy in all of your creations!

I'm Andrew(he/him), the Creative Yarn Officer of the Briar Patch. I've been knitting for about 6 years, and crocheting for 2. Knitting has always been an unwinding tool for me to relax after a long day. And the more and more I explore the wonderful world of fibre arts, the deeper I fell in love. I have plans to learn weaving and spinning as soon as time frees up a titch.
I live in Charlotte, NC with my partner, our two dogs (Ollie and Diesel), and two cats (Basil and Sage). When I'm not knitting I'm usually drinking tea or coffee depending on how much more energy I need to get everything I need to get done, done.
We are a small, independent company located in Alabama. Our goal is to make knitting as effortless as possible. We set out to design a needle that minimizes or eliminates the minor; or major irritations that we've all put up with for years.
Here on our farm we raise hardy Icelandic sheep on lush Tennessee grass pastures. We started our flock in 2012 with four outstanding registered animals - Ebony, Rhonna, Victoria, and Hagrid - and our flock is growing exponentially! Each spring we have select Icelandic ram/whether lambs for sale. Our Studio Shop offers both full fleeces and processed roving from our twice-yearly shearings. We also offer spinning, tatting and weaving supplies, hand dyed threads and classes in a variety of fiber arts.

We make things for fiber people. Spindles, spindle bowls, Niddy-noddys, stitch markers, little looms, cable needles, shawl pins, and so much more!!

I apply beautiful silky strands to individual pieces of hair with my fairy hair tool and it gives you that extra sparkle. I loved getting fairy hair so much that I decided to learn so that I could give it to people too!!
I started spinning yarn in the autumn of 2013 at the North Carolina State Fair in the Village of Yesteryear. My wife had a booth at the Village for about 10 years before we met. The Village has an educational mission; people demonstrate crafts as they might have been done prior to 1920. She taught me to spin yarn on a drop spindle. My sole purpose was to be able to demonstrate spinning at the Village and entertain kids of all ages while helping with her booth.
In about 2017 I started dying roving and wool locks, and carding fibers to use in spinning. It was not long before I noticed my wife's stash of undyed yarn. I converted a bathroom to a dye room and started to dye a lot more. One sad and dismal day, it became clear that the undyed yarn stash was not infinite. I started buying my own undyed yarn. I sprung back and started using natural dyes. These were more difficult and less reliable. Through sheer perseverance I have gotten fairly good with them.
A love of Leicester Longwool sheep, wonderful mentors of shepherds & fiber artists, & the need to craft things in beauty led to the evolution of Cranberry Creek Fibers. Here you will find fibers of rare sheep breeds - raw fleece, roving, yarns and dryer balls. Baskets geared to the needs of fiber artists & shepherds, and the ever popular tea towels in natural fibers, are all handwoven here at the homestead in North Carolina.

I have always had a love of yarn. That has grown into a passion for fiber! I started experimenting with different fibers, a rainbow of colors and a kettle. What you see in my booth are the results!

Dawn Craig, the indie dyer behind Fairy Tale Yarn Co., is a homeschooling mom of four, and a total geek. Her favorite animals are dragons. (Don’t tell her they aren’t real!)
Dawn started dyeing yarn for a KAL she was doing with friends. When she couldn’t find the purple shade she wanted she bought some undyed yarn and dyed it herself. That was about 10 years ago and she hasn’t finished that shawl, but she also hasn’t stopped dyeing.

Hi! I'm Gabby, I started knitting when I was eight years old. I was taught by my grandmother, but did not stick with it for long. I picked it up a few times, along with crochet over the years. In 2016, I picked crochet up again and have not put the hook down since!
A passion for crocheting, and now knitting, since I've also picked that back up, has evolved into dyeing my own yarn, designing patterns, and making my own stitch markers!
Our wool comes from our lovely sheep who are growing the wool for us. We have been raising sheep for about 20 years. We began with a few and now have a large herd. We have several breeds of sheep. Finnsheep make up the majority of our flock with Cormo and Icelandic rounding it out. The journey has been interesting and adventurous, taking us down many trails. There is something happening all of the year. Farms are busy places.
NEAL HOWARD likes to create things that stand out in a crowd. For more than 30 years she has been hand dyeing silk yarn, and hand weaving it into wearable art. Her subtle color transitions, and rich spatial patterning, result in an unusual aesthetic with unmistakable panache. Whether you buy HENCEFORTH YARNS to create your own fiber designs, or step out in Neal’s handwoven scarves and wearable art, Neal’s luxurious fields of color indulge your senses!

KnitAntics provides the luxury of silk packed with a healthy dose of whimsical attitude and philanthropy for people and animals.
We work with a small family business who uses local sources in India to provide the highest quality, 100% mulberry and tussah silk yarn and other natural fibers. We combine our silk with cotton, wool, and linen for original creations you won't find anywhere else. All our yarns are hand dyed in vibrant colors by local artisans using traditional methods.
Bunny takes great delight in designing the texture and color schemes for the yarns. The artisans then take these ideas and work their magic to bring Bunny's yarns to life. We take great pride in providing our customers with products to make their dreams come true. If you have something unique in mind, we can make it happen!
All of our own products are developed and produced from a home-based workshop in Nashville, Tennessee. We have added to our product line regularly in the years since then to include many unique wood tools and accessories. At the present this includes Sock Keepers, Nostepinnes, Darning Eggs, Shawl or Hair Sticks, Yarn Boxes, and Bowls. Around the same time, in addition to wood working, we began a custom yarn and fleece dyeing service. Soon after that time we developed a line of hand dyed merino wool yarns in a curated palette of 32 repeatable colors which we added to our growing product line.
Wonderful handknit treasures for you!
I am a maker of handwoven fabrics. My garments are now carrying areas of nuno felt that I create. My line of handwoven wearables often incorporate areas of handmade fabrics and surface design from fellow fiber artists. These collaborations, known as LIZ SPEAR & FRIENDS, invigorate my creativity and emphasize the one-of-a-kind nature of my clothing. I exhibit these garments throughout the year, mostly in North Carolina. Teaching fills up part of every year. I mentor creative process through demonstrations and workshops. Currently, nuno felting and sewing handmade and/or handwoven cloth are the focus of my classes.
A visit to the isle of Madlandia may bring a chance encounter with mythical beasts, a close call with a shooting star, or even a long lasting friendship with a bug eyed furry monster. On Madlandia, we create colorful goods, wearables, and the amazing line of Hue-Mongous Cotton Yarn, partly inspired by our childhood imaginations and partly inspired by that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach on a carnival ride. So whether you want to surf the back of a narwhal while you crochet, chase spooky creatures in the dark, or just roast marshmallows with Big Foot, Madlandia should be your next destination.
Crochet is King in Madlandia and yarn is the magic that binds the universe together. Crochet patterns, crochet hooks, crochet yarn, and crochet artisans abound. I am very proud of world we have built together and strive to make our kingdom a land of color and wonder. Since 1994, I have been creating designs and playing with color. After years of searching high and low, I knew it was time to find a mill that would work with me to create the yarn of my dreams.
https://meridianmillhouse.com/yarn-shop
Designed with the craft dyer in mind, the Mill House Yarn Shop focuses on using natural fibers that can easily be dyed with acid and/or reactive dyes. Wherever possible, these fibers are sourced through U.S. suppliers – providing a product that is both U.S. grown and U.S. spun.
In addition to the classic yarns you would expect from an experienced mill (3-ply worsted, wool yarns), we are always searching out more luxurious and exotic fiber blends from around the world to create yarns you can’t get anywhere else!

Noti Yarns isn’t just a business; it’s a heartfelt homage to a transformative journey and cherished memories. The name “Noti Yarns” is a tribute to my mother, whose name inspired the company and whose unwavering support has been a cornerstone of my life.
My journey into dyeing began when my friend, Jenn, invited me to a local knit night. Immersed in the vibrant world of yarn, I realized the available yarns didn’t quite match my creative vision. What started as a personal experiment soon blossomed into Noti Yarns, as my unique and vivid colorways captivated others.
My dyeing process revolves around creating a strong base colorway and layering colors to craft distinctive, complementary skeins. I blend speckles and variegation to simplify color coordination, removing the complexity often associated with traditional color theory. Each skein is designed to inspire creativity and enhance your crafting experience, ensuring that every project is both beautiful and effortlessly coordinated.
Following my mother’s passing in 2023, I took a step back from fiber festivals and social media to realign my priorities. Now, I’m reinvigorated and excited to share my love for color blending and create stunning yarns that inspire and elevate your projects.

Together, they have combined their love for art and decided to start teaching workshops to share their skills with their communities.

I'm a dye by the seat of my pants kind of gal, so all the fibers I produce are completely unique and one-of-a-kind. So if you see something you like, there's no guarantee it'll make another appearance in the shop.
String Theory Colorworks started out in 2009 with the fateful words "Hey, honey! Wouldn't it be cool if..?" Don't ever say such things to an engineer :) I started dyeing self striping yarn that weekend with the help of my husband, MacGyver-ski (as my mother calls him). With my husband being an electrical engineer, and me being a biology major, we decided that all of our yarns should have "science-y" names. And a lot of our colorways interconnect in ways that only make sense to my insane brain.
Hi! I’m Carolyn of Swan City Yarns. I live in sunny central Florida with my husband Bo, two kiddos and a sweet pupper.
Swan City is pretty much a family run business. While I do the bulk of the dyeing and other shenanigans around the dye studio, Connor and Morgan both help out part time and Bo can regularly be found helping me at trunk shows and doing any other odd jobs I can pass off on him. Okay, he's actually the best half and I wouldn't be here without him.
Swan City gets its name from the Swans that are found all over the city of Lakeland, originating from a pair of swans originally gifted by Queen Elizabeth herself in the 1950s.
A Charlotte staple since the fall of 2008, The Fibre Studio is primarily an indie dyeing studio with a small retail space, offering a large selection of naturally colored, undyed, and hand-dyed yarns. We pride ourselves on our colorfastness, consistency, and fiber selection in generously-proportioned skeins and cakes.
Liza Q. Wirtz, better known as Q (or the Chief Feline :-)), weaves freestyle on SAORI floor looms, cards, and spins at her fiber-arts studio, the Foldout Cat. And she sells unique and custom-made art batts, finished woven items, and weaving, spinning, and carding tools, equipment, and supplies. Q’s other creative hats include those of sourdough baker, musician, and - yes, really - estate-planning attorney. I’ve always had a passion for knitting, luxury yarns, and yoga! My dream was to one day bring all these together, pack them onto wheels, and hit the road to share my love with people like you. The Traveling Yarn Yogi, LLC, is a dream that became a reality on September 22, 2019. It could not happen without the help, and carpentry talents, of my dad and his friend, Mr. Wiggins. The construction of Purl began in July 2019 when we converted the inside of a mobility bus into a mobile yarn shop as you see it today.
Be sure to follow me, you never know where I’ll be next.
